Chaos
This is how I would describe my first experience in nursery. We were walking to sunday school a little later than usual today and as we passed the nursery rooms got grabbed to be a substitute. There were about 3 parents in there trying to wean themselves away from their kids and 1 kid crying and was not to be consoled, (we finally had to have the nursery leader find his parents). There was a total of three room changes throughout the process, the snack room was my favorite. One of the kids found a smaller kid to bully, whenever he found him alone he would come up to him, at first sight you think he's hugging him but then he pushes him down. Another of the kids was autistic and was really interested in the walls, chairs and especially the door and kept trying to leave the room so one of us always had to be on door duty. It was an interesting experience, all the kids definitely had their own personalities and were all cute in their own way, but I was exhausted by the time church was over, so hats off to everyone who is or has had a calling in nursery.

Yeah...while nursery rank among the top of my favorite callings, I do remember coming home exhausted and often horrified. Snack time is great though, because really, it's physically impossible to get through church without getting hungry.
I agree! My poor friend teaches in nursery and as I leave my crying 2 year old with her- I just say "I'm Sorry" and then run out of there as fast as I can;)!
lol, ya just watch b/c you helped out give it a couple months and you'll have a new calling. trust me i know:P
Comments like that make me so glad I am a counselor in Young Women's....I think I would rip my extensions out! However....the Bish just called me to be the YW Camp Director this summer. Let's put it this way- I only went to Girl's Camp once as a kid, and it was the worst experience of my life. Camping in Oklahoma= Not pleasant (HUMID, Mosquitos galore, Torando Warning, Thunderstorm, Wet, Wet, Muddy, More Bugs, Spiders) These were all of the things I endured at my girls camp. I told my parents I would never go back and to this day I didn't. I only camp in the mountains. (Oklahoma doesn't have mountains.) Do you think Heavenly Father is trying to tell me something?? :) Or is he making a big mistake by calling me to do this!?! haha
That's hilarious. I never liked being in Nursery (Craig & I had the calling for 7 months), but I also didn't have kids at the time (I was pregnant with Haley). Just wait until they are your own kids and you can't send them home after 2 hours. A word to the wise. My last ward had FABULOUS nursery leaders. They had it VERY structured, so it wasn't just chaos. If you get this as your calling, CALL ME. I have great ideas for you how to run the place!
