My First Surgery
Dang it, Ryan didn't take a pic of me in the hospital all drugged out, but I'm sure it wouldn't have been very pretty so I guess its ok. I had to have a small surgery to get a polyp removed from my uterus which is not condusive to getting pregnant and would very likely cause a miscarriage if I did get pregnant, so our fertility doc recommended we get it removed so that we can do in-vitro. The hardest part of the surgery was the night before. My doc prescribed me some pills to take which were not to fun considering they weren't taken orally (i'll leave it at that) . They had warned me that there would be some cramping but I was not expecting to be as bad as it was, I had really bad cramps that 5 ib profens didn't even make a dent in. We gave up trying to sleep around 2 am in the morning and just watched a movie until it was time to "get up" at 5 am to go to the surgical center. I didn't ever really get too nervous for it, until I was at the hospital with the needles and Iv being inserted and even then I was mainly just nervous that for some reason even tho I had talked to our insurance and it was pre-authorized they are going to end up denying it and sending us a huge bill and then us not being able to afford in-vitro. I know I'm kind of pessimistic, but after years of having our insurance premiums get bigger and bigger and them not covering anything we actually need to use it for (can you tell I'm a little bitter that insurance companies will pay for preventing babies and not for helping make them). Anyways thats a soap box for another time. After surgery I was pretty loopy but they gave me some perkisett for the cramps and that was great. We got home from the surgery around 9am and just slept and layed around all day. Ryan was awesome at taking care of me, getting my prescriptions filled, snacks and drinks and movies. Ryan's parents brought us over some dinner and we ended the day by watching the bachelor, yes its back on! Today I have the day off too, although I'm feeling much better. I saved all the girly movies to watch by myself today since Ryan is back at work. I admit I was looking forward to the surgery just so I could have a couple of days off to be completely excused for being totally lazy:) I'm feeling like I'm getting too much accomplished by writing this blog so I better get back to being lazy!

Oh Diane,
You remind me of me. I also enjoy sickness for the opportunity to be lazy without guilt.
Girl movies; which ones do you like?
i agree, needles are the scariest part of ...well...anything
I am so glad to hear that everything went smoothly and you are healing up!! You definitely deserve to pamper yourself and be lazy;0 You will have to let me know how the invitro goes, when do you do your first round of it??? Good luck!!! Love you tons and I'm sending some "Baby Dust" your way;0!!!
We are going to the Family Reunion for a couple days this Summer- are you guys going?? ;0
Health insurance companies suck. And so does sticking pills up your you-know-what. At least you are living it up being lazy right now. Miss you!
Glad everything went ok! I too have fears of what I'll actually be billed with when it comes to insurance. Especially dental. We got dental specifically so we could get a bunch of fillings done, and the first bill we got back said our dental wouldn't pay any of the $1000+ bill. They ended up chipping in some, but now I always get estimates from the dentist before I get anything done. I wish I had gotten an estimate for Addie, she was like 3 grand (and worth every penny). With our current insurance, any future babies will be a sweet $150 grand total!
Wow! It has been so long! Glad everything went well. I didn't even know you were going in for surgery...and now it was 4 weeks ago!!! I am lame. I will call you. We came up for Christmas but we all got the flu so we did absolutely NOTHING for 1 1/2 weeks. Nothing. Hopefully next time it will be better and we can get together.
That sounds pretty awful, I agree with penny and you, that NEEDLES are terrible! Good that it's over with. Keep us updated on how everything goes, and enjoy your lazy time, you deserve it after all that!
