Mother's Day

This year I had a really nice mother's day!  I snuggled in bed with my little cutie pie, while Ryan made me breakfast in bed.  I also got some beautiful white roses, a very sweet card, and a new I phone!!  I had been using Ryan's old 3G i phone and it had a lot of issues, like no camera or video, had to talk on speaker phone only and it finally pooped out last week so I had been using a really old phone from like 4 years ago.  So, finally I have a nice phone and I can take lots of cute pics and video while I am home with Tristan.  At church we got yummy chocolate truffles.  After church I got a nice nap and then video chatted with my mom, grandma and siblings.  That evening we had a yummy dinner with Ryan's mom and family.

Easter

I was not super mom this year for Easter, what with house hunting, and feeling sickly, I did not do any cute easter basket or baskets at all for Tristan or Ryan.  Luckily Tristan's grandma's came thru for him.  He got a cute farm pop-up book which he loves and tries to destroy from Grandma Sue and Grandma Cindy had a yummy Easter dinner and egg hunt.  Tristan wasn't so much into finding the eggs as he was shaking them and eating the candy.  Still fun though.

Tristan's hugs are head taps, he loves giving hugs especially to his cousins.

A New House

With a new baby on the way, we hurried to go house hunting as our current two bedroom townhouse started feeling way too small.  We finally settled on building a new house in our neighborhood on a really cool lot. It is .25 acre,  a creek behind it and no houses in the field behind that, one neighbor to  one side and common ground and pathway to the other side.   We picked out everything that we could afford for the house, color of cabinents and counter tops etc, put the construction deposit down and waited.   Finally almost a month later they started digging only to find a spring on our lot, yes you read right a spring of water. hence the subdivision name (Spring Creek).  As much as we like the lot and waited extra time to get it, we are a little nervous of future problems  that could arise with having a spring in your front yard and will probably switch to the lot across the street.  Side note- if we had started off choosing this lot, they already had approval to start on this lot and could be halfway done with it by now.  Such is life.

We are super excited about having extra space, I am excited about having an official guest bedroom, Ryan is excited about doing new projects around the house and having a yard to landscape.

Lot across the street-

A Baby?

A lot has been going on this year for us, I am going to start out with the biggest and best news,  which everyone knows already, as I did the official face book post, but the day after Tristan's one year birthday I bought a pregnancy test while Ryan at work to prove to myself that I wasn't pregnant.  I bought the cheapest one that shows just a cross if you are pregnant. Duh, of course I'm not, was my first  thought, upon closer inspection and reading the directions more carefully I was shocked and well shocked.  I told Ryan  in a rather anti-climatic way in the car that we need to step up our search for our new house,  he was just as shocked as I was and we both thought I should take another test just to be sure and sure enough the same positive result. I called the dr office the very next day and went in to get my blood drawn and they found my progesterone level to be pretty low.  So, for weeks I refused to get excited about this new baby.  Due to my levels being low they let me come in for an ultra sound at week 8 and this is what we saw along with hearing a strong heart beat.  Yay!! I was finally able to get excited.

1st Year Birthday

About One Year Old Tristan:

He loves people!  He is the most happy, friendly and charming little boy ! Right after we sung Happy Birthday to him, he looked around and realized everyone was staring at him and started smiling, he loved all the attention!  Every time we go anywhere, I mean anywhere, he will stare and smile at some one until they look at him and give him some attention, he is bound and determined to make a friend on every outing. He is constantly jabbering in his own language.  He says mama, dada, and ba for ball and bottle.  He loves going outside, and thinks getting his diaper changed is a huge waste of time. He is ,I think, getting close to walking.  He sometimes will stand by himself but as soon as he realizes he is he quickly sits down.  But he loves pushing his little walker around and getting into anything and everything possible.  He can destroy a room in 10 seconds flat.  He loves opening and closing drawers and doors.   He loves being chased and he has the best laugh in the world.  Sleeping at night is still not great, but other than that he is about as perfect as you can get.  He weighs 20.8 lbs, 29 inches and still is only in the 10% for his head size:) Mama and Dada love him to pieces and can't help but dote on him!

Super Baby

My little boy is 11 months old! I've been thinking I haven't been good enough and recording all the little things that make this boy so super and he is not going to be a baby for much longer!

A couple of Saturdays ago, were doing our usual Sat. cleaning of the house and Ryan was vacuuming.  Tristan has always been scared of the vacuem so usually one of us holds him while the other vacuums.  I sat him down on the floor while Ryan was in the other room and he actually started crawling towards the vacuum, when the vacuum started coming towards him he got a really nervous look on his face and started booking it away but he didn't cry and as soon as the vacuum was not coming towards him he would crawl towards it.  What a brave boy!  I wish we would have gotten video of it, we did a little re-enactment the next saturday but it wasn't the same, he was a little more scared the second time around.  A few days after that, I found him hitting the vacuum and yelling at it (while it was safely stowed away of course), he's so funny!

Here is some video of Tristan crawling and going about his daily business and the re-enactment of the vacuum incident.

Looking back and ahead

I know it is late for a New Year's post, but better late than never right...?   Anyways, when I was reviewing my New Year's resolutions that I made for last year, I realized that I had not even done one of them at all consistently, or really at all. I  rationalized that was due to having Tristan and all the changes that came with having a new baby and even though I followed thru on none of my goals, it was one of the happiest years in my life, granted it could have been better I guess if I had kept some of my goals.  But the point of this is that this year, I am determined to be better at keeping my New Year's resolutions.

For New Year's we went to St. George for the holiday and my bro-in-law gave a talk on setting goals (full disclosure we didn't actually make it to church to hear the talk because ryan forgot his church pants but we heard that it was really good and that he talked about doing one spiritual goal, one physical goal and one social goal). So, i have decided to do that.

My spiritual goal is to get to the temple at least once a quarter. I know its not a lot, but it will be an improvement over last year.

My social goal is that me and Ryan are going to have one real date a month.

My physical goal is to get back in shape, at least to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, and to do that by having a specific work out and eating goal every month.  So, for January, my goal was to do an hour work out video mon.-fri.,  (p90X) and not eat after 8:30 pm.  So far, I have  done pretty good, I only missed one work out, but made up for it on sat.,  weekends I haven't been as strict about not eating after 8:30, but have done it pretty consistently during the week. I haven't really lost any weight so I think I might have to do something more drastic with my eating, but if I try to eat less I have less self control about eating sweets... so that doesn't really work well for me. What has worked for everyone, any suggestions?
