Crazy 2011

So, much has happened since my last blog post but before I do a blog post on all the updates I had to do a blog on what happened yesterday morning as it is fresh in my mind. My sister Annaliese and Penny have both posted blogs on their tripping/falling stories and Annaliese said in her blog that this was a family trait she had passed on to Penny, but wait, I am the eldest so I think maybe I'm the one to blame.

Story #1: Way back long ago when I was going to UVSC I had these boots where the heel was falling off. Since I was but a poor college student I hadn't replaced them yet. One day while at school I was going down the stairs in the business building and my heel caught and tumble down I went and my books and papers scattered about. Luckily it wasn't too crowded since it was during class so I was embarrassed but not mortified. A couple of weeks later while at a friend's house, a guy there said hey I remember you, he did not look at all familiar to me so I asked him where he thought he knew me from, you're not going to like this he said, but I saw you fall down the stairs at Uvsc. Great, just how every girl wants to be remembered.

Story #2: I woke up yesterday morning, just like every other morning staying in bed as late as possible and then rushing to get ready, I throw on some clothes and make up, grabbed my purse and a half glass of smoothie from the night before that I hadn't finished (to wash out in the sink, not drink) and kissed Ryan goodbye who was still all snuggled up in bed. As I headed down the second flight of stairs I realize I am no longer walking but falling down the rest of the stairs, I scream, my smoothie glass goes flying, and then scream again as I realize I am not going to be able to keep myself from falling down the rest of the stairs. Ryan hears the screaming, breaking of glass and thumping down the stairs and finds me in a heap at the bottom of the stairs in what appears to be a murder scene. There is dark reddish smoothie splatterings everywhere, and a pool of it at the bottom of the stairs by where I am laying. Other than being shocked by what has just happened I am relativily un harmed, a few bruises and a carpet burn and once I realize I am not mortally wounded I actually began to think it was pretty funny, although today I am much less amused because I am so sore and it hurts to sit down. I do so wish I had taken a picture of this scene. Again, I blame it on the shoes, I was wearing my black heels and one shoe is a lot looser than the other one, this is the shoe (culprit) who was at the top of the stairs where I began falling and my other shoe was on my foot at the bottom of the stairs or its a family curse, you tell me.

PS. The date is all messed up today is Friday 2/25/11, so I fell yesterday not Sunday, not that it matters I guess, but to set the record straight since this is the only journal that I keep.

My First Surgery

Dang it, Ryan didn't take a pic of me in the hospital all drugged out, but I'm sure it wouldn't have been very pretty so I guess its ok. I had to have a small surgery to get a polyp removed from my uterus which is not condusive to getting pregnant and would very likely cause a miscarriage if I did get pregnant, so our fertility doc recommended we get it removed so that we can do in-vitro. The hardest part of the surgery was the night before. My doc prescribed me some pills to take which were not to fun considering they weren't taken orally (i'll leave it at that) . They had warned me that there would be some cramping but I was not expecting to be as bad as it was, I had really bad cramps that 5 ib profens didn't even make a dent in. We gave up trying to sleep around 2 am in the morning and just watched a movie until it was time to "get up" at 5 am to go to the surgical center. I didn't ever really get too nervous for it, until I was at the hospital with the needles and Iv being inserted and even then I was mainly just nervous that for some reason even tho I had talked to our insurance and it was pre-authorized they are going to end up denying it and sending us a huge bill and then us not being able to afford in-vitro. I know I'm kind of pessimistic, but after years of having our insurance premiums get bigger and bigger and them not covering anything we actually need to use it for (can you tell I'm a little bitter that insurance companies will pay for preventing babies and not for helping make them). Anyways thats a soap box for another time. After surgery I was pretty loopy but they gave me some perkisett for the cramps and that was great. We got home from the surgery around 9am and just slept and layed around all day. Ryan was awesome at taking care of me, getting my prescriptions filled, snacks and drinks and movies. Ryan's parents brought us over some dinner and we ended the day by watching the bachelor, yes its back on! Today I have the day off too, although I'm feeling much better. I saved all the girly movies to watch by myself today since Ryan is back at work. I admit I was looking forward to the surgery just so I could have a couple of days off to be completely excused for being totally lazy:) I'm feeling like I'm getting too much accomplished by writing this blog so I better get back to being lazy!

Holidays

December is like the quickest month of the year, in some way the holidays go by so fast I feel like I barely have time to enjoy them but at the same time its kinda nice to get back to normal. Every year I say that next year I will prepare more (like buying gifts ahead of time) so that it takes out the pressure but I always seem to forget that. For our Christmas present this year we got our selves a really nice new camera so our pics quality on our blog will go up. We had both our work parties to go to, friend's Christmas party, saw Saviour of the world, saw the Tabernacle Christmas concert had our own little Christmas together where we ate at Texas Roadhouse, opened our Christmas presents and watched one of my Christmas presents Blue-ray dvd of the Princess Bride, family Christmas party with Ry's family before we went to Bremerton. At home in B-town we played lots of Canasta (unfortunatly I wound up on the losing team which was suppossed to go to the store with the fake mannican head and buy oreos- I bought some Oreos and I was leaving it up to my partner to do the rest which I am told never happened), Balderdash & mafia, listened to Penny's and Richard's original music numbers and watched Christmas movies & saw True Grit, played with my adorable niece and video chatted with my other adorable niece and sis & bro-in law. I felt like we were barely there before we had to leave again.

Me & Penny at the Saviour of the World, (Ryan was there too but he was a gentlemen and went and got the car while we were taking pics) Thanks for the tickets mom!
At home in washington...

Fam picture before leaving, I look like crap and we had some trouble transferring the one where Liberty is looking at the camera, we'll get that one to you soon Mom.
It was way too hard to go back to work the next week, luckily we didn't work too hard.New Year's eve we did a little bit of shopping, eating out, playing games and a frantic countdown where we realized 5 min till midnight we didn't have any thing to open our martinelli's with, we pulled it together in time to do the last 10 sec countdown.

New Year's resolutions forth coming....

Anniversary, Lighting, St. George, Vegas -again

Our anniversary was 11/11/10 (Veteran's Day) Year #4. We had really wanted to celebrate by going to New Orleans and visiting the Cox's. We thought we had a free flight by signing up for this credit card but of course there were restrictions. I repeatedly asked them before I signed up if there was any and they said no black out dates but failed to mention that there were seat restrictions. So, of course on the days that we wanted to go we couldn't get the flight out that we wanted and Ryan is in the middle of a big project at work so we couldn't be flexible on the dates and prices were too expensive on the days we wanted to go. So, instead we ate at this cool new restraunt in Provo called Sparks where the food is in smaller portions but very good. Then we stayed at a hotel near Park City, went hottubbing and the next day was spent doing some shopping and eating at the delicous cheese cake factory.

Ryan installed some cool lights over our bar. It so nice to have some extra light there so we can actually see the dishes were washing. Ryan spent several hours with the help of our friend & neighbor Kyle and it looks awesome.

We took my sister Penny and drove to St. George for Thanksgiving this year. We had a delicous Thanksgiving meal, played some pickle ball (life size ping pong) which was fun, played games and watched a documentary of the "best worst movie ever", and then actually watched the best worst movie, Troll 2, if you are ever bored and need a really good laugh this is the movie to watch, I haven't laughed that hard in a really long time. Again, we tried getting up early to get a tv we tried getting last year on black Friday. I didn't totally wuss out this year like I did last year, but again we got there about 1/2 an hour after the sale started and did not succeed. I've decided its not worth it. You either have to fully commit to the whole thing by not going to bed at all and actually waiting in line instead of thinking you can just go when it opens. That night Ryan went to a Pink Floyd concert in Vegas. Tickets were extremely pricey so I did not go to it, he went with his sister and parents and said it was the coolest concert he's ever been to and is still talking about it. Me & Penny decided to tag along to Vegas with the group so I could introduce Penny to Vegas for her first time. I know she will want to put some pics on her blog so I'll just do a few.

At the MGM Grant right before the concert.
Penny's first glimpse..
Look at us in these cool unpaid for sunglasses...

ha ha I actually started this post Monday and its now really late Thursday night... Yea, for the weekend is almost here

Octoberness

It has been a busy month. A couple days before Penny's birthday, my sister-in-law Becky and adorable niece Liberty were in town for a few days. So we met them at BYU and watched
Penny's championiship intermural team put another win under their belt and then pigged out at the all you can eat cafeteria near penny's dorm as you can see from our millions of plates on the table.

Ryan's goint to make an awesome dad some day....

Then we headed to Vegas because we had a couple of free nights stay at the Riveria (not the best rooms but at least they were free, although we had to go to a travel sales pitch to get the free stay so we definitly paid for it.
Every time we go to Vegas we go to the Bellagio gardens, this month of course it was a creepy Halloween theme.
Ryan's band played at Velour.
It was a really fun show especially since a lot of our friends came and supported, here are the fans in their cool Egan's Theory band shirts.
I just realized this came thru sideways and I cant figure out how to rotate without re- loading it and I am not feeling up to it. But this is our first Halloween party at our neighbor's house. We kind of threw these costumes together last minute. For anyone who doesn't know Ryan does a hillarious gay guy impression so we decided to go with that theme. I am kind of a crazy model and he is my gay fashion designer:)
Played some fun games at the party and had yummy really creative Halloween treats.
These are the girls... I thought i got a picture of the guys but I guess I did't.
This is our second Halloween Party at our friends house. I am crazy haired-Ryan's guardian angel.

I'm back

Whoa, It has been a while since I have last posted a blog. I feel like we have been really busy but I can't find enough pictures to evidence that. I can't believe summer is over already although we have been having some great weather the past couple of weeks, I'll be sad when that is over. For labor day weekend we went with our neighbors to Solitude Ski Resort. It was such a fun get away. My neighbor had such a better camera than me that I didn't take hardly any pics and haven't had a chance to get them from her. Here's a few that I took, when I get them I'll maybe post some more or if you want she's got them on her blog at Hadleypage.blogspot. com. Here is the nice pool.
we went on a really fun hike called the Donut falls hike as you can see the water came thru this hole like a donut.
You had to do a little bit of rock climbing to get up there, this was the view from below so if you didn't climb up to the top you would never see the actual donut falls.

The resort was pretty close to Park City so we also went there and did some shopping at the outlet stores and ate a yummy dinner on main street.

My sister Annaliese, niece and her husband came in to town for a little bit and this is Penny's first day to Utah to stay since she started BYU a couple of day later. You can't tell from this pic but she seemed a little shell shocked her first day here. But since then I think she's quite warmed up to the place and is having a blast at BYU and comes to our house on Sunday's and shares her college life stories with us.

We went to the drive in movies which is one of our fave summer activities unfortuantly we only made it there once this summer.

In other news we were quite proud of this new recipe we tried- frozen lemonade pie and Ryan did an excellent job prettying it up

July

My favorite month of the year for the following reasons:

1) 3 holidays= 3 days off work
2) My birthday- which is included in #1
3) Its finally summer- my fave time of the year
4) hot sunny days- perfect for reading a book at the pool

What have we been up to this month you ask, let me tell you:

4th of July weekend: minature golfing, bbq, hanging out with friends, a few fireworks, volleyball, hiking, watching the bachelor.

My birthday- Got way too spoiled by Ryan, got we too many gifts and we took the day off work and went and ate lunch at the Garden restaraunt in SLC then went to Park City where we walked around main street, looked at the museums, ate some heavenly gelato, rode a cool gondola ride up the mountain and ate at a yummy mexican restraunt on main street on the deck, came home for cake & icecream with friends and family, so a really good day.

Went hiking to pick out a camping spot for a future camping trip and rafting one saturday and had the best sno cones that came close to being as good as the ones in Hawaii but not quite

Saw Inception at the Imax, really liked it, Penny & Orson now you can fill me in on your thoughts about the ending.

24th- Went down the provo river with Ryan's family, unfortunatly we got a late start so it was kinda cold, the river was a little faster than we were expecting and poor Ryan's parents both got knocked off their tubes into the river so it was quite the adventure. After that we watched a movie outside in their backyard and while everything was being put away a snake was found sleeping under the pad where we had been watching, freaky, I hate snakes, I actually didn't see it or feel it so I am going to pretend it never happened.

Italian night with our neighbors: yummy alfredo, ,italian cream sodas, delicious bread, dang it I didn't get a pic of this on my camera....

Note: Its late and I'm having issues getting the pics in order and in the right place and I'm givin up... so sorry, and I'm also wishing I was better at taking more pics.

rafting & hiking

THis is in Park City on gondola ride-

My birthday spoils-

Enjoying my gelato-

Blowing out my birthday candles
