I know it is late for a New Year's post, but better late than never right...? Anyways, when I was reviewing my New Year's resolutions that I made for last year, I realized that I had not even done one of them at all consistently, or really at all. I rationalized that was due to having Tristan and all the changes that came with having a new baby and even though I followed thru on none of my goals, it was one of the happiest years in my life, granted it could have been better I guess if I had kept some of my goals. But the point of this is that this year, I am determined to be better at keeping my New Year's resolutions.
For New Year's we went to St. George for the holiday and my bro-in-law gave a talk on setting goals (full disclosure we didn't actually make it to church to hear the talk because ryan forgot his church pants but we heard that it was really good and that he talked about doing one spiritual goal, one physical goal and one social goal). So, i have decided to do that.
My spiritual goal is to get to the temple at least once a quarter. I know its not a lot, but it will be an improvement over last year.
My social goal is that me and Ryan are going to have one real date a month.
My physical goal is to get back in shape, at least to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, and to do that by having a specific work out and eating goal every month. So, for January, my goal was to do an hour work out video mon.-fri., (p90X) and not eat after 8:30 pm. So far, I have done pretty good, I only missed one work out, but made up for it on sat., weekends I haven't been as strict about not eating after 8:30, but have done it pretty consistently during the week. I haven't really lost any weight so I think I might have to do something more drastic with my eating, but if I try to eat less I have less self control about eating sweets... so that doesn't really work well for me. What has worked for everyone, any suggestions?

Christmas 2012
Christmas this year was a blast with Tristan. Santa stuffed his stocking with his favorite things to eat and he looked so adorable going thru his stocking and eating his little fruit pouches! He loved opening his presents, not so much the presents themselves but for the wrapping and tissue paper. After opening our presents we watched a Christmas movie, skyped with my family and napped until the after noon we left to go meet up with Ryan's mom, her friend, and Ryan's brother to go bowling. None of us had ever been bowling on Christmas before, we would have seen Les Mis (which we are super excited for) except its not really fun to take your almost 10 month old to. But bowling was fun although I had my worst game (embarassing really) and Ryan had his best game. After bowling, Tristan's cousin Derik came over (Tristan tried stealing all his toys) and his bro wife got off work and joined us for dinner that Ryan's mom had made, Honey Smoked ham and turkey, funeral potatoes ( a Utah original and sooo good) and so much more yummy food! After wards we opened presents! Thanks to both grandma's for spoiling us and Tristan!
Tristan enjoying his stocking stuffers!
How cute are these two?
Hope everyone had as good as Christmas as we did! And now on to 2013...

Merry Christmas!!
It's snowing buckets outside right now and our house is warm and cozy, I just pulled some delicious cinnamon rolls out of the oven, and we are fixing to watch The Grinch Stole Christmas, while Tristan is napping peacefully in his crib (he woke up at 6 am this morning).
This month flew by as December always does, and we still have to make a quick run to the grocery store and buy a last minute gift before really settling in. We've had Ryan's work party, an annual ugly Christmas sweater party with friends, neighbor and ward parties, rode the trolley thru the lights at Thanksgiving point with Ryan's family and got the most amazing peppermint sundae there, Tristan loved the lights so much we did a repeat with our neighbors. I wish I had stopped to take some pics. I can't wait to fill each other's stockings for the first time this year and watch Tristan opens his presents, even though I know he will be way more excited for the wrapping paper than anything wrapped.

All about Tristan
Man, I love this little boy so much! Time is just flying boy, he is 8 months old now, I can hardly believe I have an 8 month old! He is constantly on the move looking for the next thing to play with. He can sit with the best of them, but he prefers to stand. He is trying so hard to crawl, he does fish out of water in an attempt to go mobile and usually ends up scooting backwards, further and further away from his goal, but is starting to get up on all fours more often. He is so friendly with everyone, always smiling, I just can't get over how cute and wonderful he is.
Unfortunately, his sleeping has taken a turn for the worse, he has actually always been a pretty good sleeper but the past month or two, he suddenly started waking up a lot. We can't seem to committ/pick a sleep training method, so I'm just tired... a lot.
Tristan's first trick or treating, he didn't get to eat any candy but he was pretty content chewing on the wrappers.
We actually haven't had many cold days this year so this was the first time we got him bundled up.
Ryan had taken the day off work to go camping with his dad and brother but it ended up being the only rainy and cold day of the month so instead we went to Sheels' (a sporting goods store that just opened) but its way more than just your typical sporting goods store, it had a freaking ferris wheel inside the store, but they wouldn't let us take tristan on it, he didn't fit the height requirements:(, random pic opportunities throughout the store, games you could play, a food court, you get the picture, anyways we had fun taking lots of random pics as seen below...

Lazy sunday afternoon, Tristan snuggled up to us while he watched Blue Clues (his favorite show) and fell asleep on us.
Oh yea, he's taking guitar lessons!
I have a couple of videos to post too, but I can't seem to get them working right now, so I will have to do another blog post with them.

Summer
As the official close of summer is tomorrow, for once in my life, (or for at least as long as I can remember, because usually fall just reminds me that winter is too soon to come) I am excited for fall. I am excited to wear clothes with layers, for the holidays, and to experience them with Tristan and see him get bigger and bigger. But before moving on, here is a little of what we did this summer....
Ryan ran the Ragnar race with all of his cousins on the Egan side
Father's Day was the next day, Ryan was so sore from the race that he could barely walk, ha ha:) So, Tristan and I got him breakfast in bed, Oreos , and the traditional father's day tie and we had a bbq with the fam in the evening! Ryan loves this boy so much and is the best dad to his little buddy!
August was $2 tuesday at Thanksgiving point so we took full advantage of that and went to the gardens almost every tuesday that month
We went on a couple of hikes... Tristan loved it, but you can't blame the little guy if the hike got a little too tiring
With our neigbors on our 24th of July hike
We went on the same hike with the fam visiting from out of town and my uncle paul and aunt rachel and their fam came too, it was so much!
For my birthday, Ryan took me to Salt lake for dinner at the Roof and had a bouquet of summer flowers at the table for me and spent the day hanging out with my two favorite boys!
We went to a Real Soccer game, so much fun - the tickets were free and we got free food and the weather was amazing!
We took Tristan swimming a couple of times, he absolutely loved it! Next summer will be a blast!
We took Tristan to the park and he loved the swings!
Ryan got me tickets to see Phantom of the Opera in Vegas for my birthday, the show was leaving Vegas beginning of September and we had always wanted to see it there so it was awesome to see it before it left and it was such a good show!
All in all a pretty good summer:)

And last but not least we went to my sister Penny's wedding in Seattle. It was a busy weekend but we had fun with all the wedding festivities and seeing Penny and Tim so happy together on their special day!
